So we thought on Tuesdays we would start sharing...sharing thoughts, ideas, inspirations..etc...
So today we are going to do a little post on things that inspire us and the atmosphere we like to go to for photo-shoots and even for ourselves in our everyday life.

These are just a couple blogs that inspire us. Most of them inspire us based on the type of things the people are creating..the way they decorate their homes or their lofts...all of these things help to shape the way we approach photography and a photo-shoot & just everday life.

The first inspiration is our friend Elsie:

Until last spring we only knew Elsie through the online world of blog-visiting and through flickr...she not only is a rad painter, crafter, awesome scrapbooker, but is a rad photog and who we look to for inspiration in how she captures everyday life & those around her! When we met her in person last spring she inspired us even more with how she lives out her passions everday and has pushed the limits to make that work also as a way of living for herself & others too! Here style is eccletic, vintage, & whimsical...stroll around her blog to check out all that is crafty and her awesome design savy of her loft decor at a beautiful mess. Also check out her store RVA.

The next inspiration is Rachel Denbow.

Rachel is another that we have been blog visiting as well for sometime and hope to possibly meet in person in the next year or so when we go for another visit to see Elsie...just so happens they are great friends and Rachel now lives close to Elsie...so it should be a 2 for 1 bonus next trip! Rachel has an incredible vintage home design style that has had our mouths on the floor and constantly trying to find unique items at thriftshops & antinque stores..for any good finds that we might salavage and multi-purpose has she has. She also just happened to make our lil baby girl's baby quilt...so for that she will forever have a unique place in our life. Check her out on smile & wave. We had a chance to work with this lovely lady: Leigh-Ann
when she contacted us about a blog/site that she helped design and that featured an ad of us on the above mentioned Rachel Denbow's site.
Well Freckled Nest is an all around great resource when looking for unique design ideas or if you just can't seem to get that design out that's in your head contact Leigh-Ann as stated she designed the above mentioned site and has done others as well as designed wedding albums etc...you can also check out her work on flickr.

Lastly: Something's Hiding in Here

We just recently found out about this blog through Elsie. Well the biggest thing we have been drooling over and dreaming about from their site is home decor...yeah I guess these all have a home decor theme..except Freckled Nest we haven't yet peaked into her home..but if her blog speaks anything of her home style then I'm sure it'd have us drooling as well. But back to Something's Hiding in Here. They were recently featured on Apartment Therapy.com so check out the house tour. Not only do they have great home decor style...but they also are all around crafty people...Urban Outiftters had them do a DIY video on block printing..so check that out!

So these are just a few blogs that we visit alot..to get ideas & inspiration from when it comes to photo-shoots and even when we are stuck on how to implement certain home decor aspects into our home. Our home is still a work in progress....but maybe one day we'll share some photos of our house...

She was an angel.
She was about the same size as our Josephine when she was born.
It was so sweet playing with her for a lil bit!
She slept the entire session.
It was so precious.

Please help bring Tifi home | Nashville TN Photographer

Hey everyone out there who stops by to read our blog..thank you so much! We have a different kind of post to present today. We have friends who are adopting a little girl from Haiti. The grant money that was supposed to help out with the cost of the adoption has fallen through...so we (Amber & Josh) decided that we wanted to help out our lovely friends the Wilson's. After all, that is what a big part of being a community is all about, we help our friends who are in need and this friends is their current need. What we are doing is donating a portion of every session fee to helping bring Tifi home. We will continue to support the Wilson's until Tifi has made it here to be a part of the Wilson family. Here is a little bit about their story and adopting from Haiti and a picture of the Wilson family.

 I(Mike Wilson) first went to Haiti in 2003 and immediately fell in love.  

I didn't know what to expect.  I knew it was going to be warm and humid, but nothing could have prepared me for he things I saw, the people I would meet, and the way God would use it all to change my LIFE.

I never knew that a country like Haiti could exist so close to America.  I thought poverty like that only existed on the other side of the world; I had no clue the poorest country in the Western hemisphere was only 700 miles away from Miami!

Missy joined me in Haiti for the first time in 2007.  I had tried for years to explain to her how amazing the country was.  When she finally joined me, she was overwhelmed.  The emotions were beyond words.  Haiti is a land of contrasts; one minute you can be laughing until your side hurts and the next you can be crying because a child is dying from lack of nutrition.

In the airport on our way back to the states, Missy looked at me and said, "One day, we will adopt a child from here.  We might not be able to help everyone, but we WILL help one child have a better LIFE."  Needless to say I wasn't that enthused or as convinced as she was.  I was happy helping others in Haiti and doing what we could while we were there.  The thought of adding to our family never occurred to me.  We already have 3 biological kids...why would we want to add another one?  Little did I know, that was EXACTLY what we were supposed to do!

In late 2008, Missy and I realized the time had come to add to our family.  We knew adoption was right for us and we never even considered another place...Haiti has become our second home.  We started filling out the paperwork January 1, 2009 and today are well on the way towards bringing Tia Simon Wilson home to live with us.  With 3 boys at the house, it only made sense to bring a TIFI (Haitian Creole for little girl) into our house.  It has been a long journey, but we know it is what we're supposed to do.  We couldn't be more comfortable with our decision to adopt and we know when she gets here, LIFE will change once again for the better.

9 days new!
I absolutely ADORE newbie sessions...
and this one was SO sweet & fun.
Jill & Kevin are first time parents like Josh & I were
and
it was so amazing spending the morning with them and sharing stories
and
passing on some insightful tidbits to them that we learned
and
it was really fun seeing them so surprised as we lulled Charley to sleep with a
sound machine
and some simple baby calming methods
to get our sleepy shots.
So here is sweet Charley David.

Fun Family | Nashville Family Photographer

This family was absolutely awesome.
Especially Max.
He had us laughing so hard as we followed him around as he ventured around our location.
He was such a rad little kid.
By the end of session, he had asked us to come to a party with him... come to his house... and even have a sleep over!
Love it when kids really get into the session with us.
It makes it so much more fun.
And the results are obviously so much better too!

Finally get to share their wedding!
We have been behind on posts to here is to catching up!
Without further ado...
Justin & Allison Long
The wedding was in Gallatin, TN at The Pick Inn. A beautiful venue!
There was a beautiful cabin for everyone to get ready in on site.

 

The boys had their own place downstairs...
 

I was so excited when we met up w/them several months before the big day and we asked them if they were going to see eachother before the ceremony.
They asked our opinion!
I love when couples do that...
It's so important to seek input from your photographer since they are capturing your wedding day and know how to best capture it!
So we suggested that they see eachother before the ceremony.
Several reasons.
You can really set aside the amount of time to really get AMAZING photos of you two together while you are still on the amazing adrenaline rush before the crash of after the ceremony when you are exhausted.
I hear from couples all the time that say they do not have enough photos of them on their wedding day.
This will prevent that.
So here is a lil bit of what we capture between the two...
It was beautiful.
Yes. I cried while shooting.


I love this photo of Allison.
You can just see the overwhelming excitement in her eyes as she awaits to see her groom and spend a few one on one moments with him before it all..


They were so cute and giddy... it's so perfect to capture that excitement and for it to be JUST THEM and us... beautiful...

2+1 Makes 3 | Nashville, TN Family Photographer

This sweet family welcomed their sweet lil boy into this world earlier this year.
This is about 4 months after he joined them.
Katie & Michael are just the sweetest new Mom & Dad.
Michael is the lead singer of the band RED
Their music is so on fire.
On fire for God.
It's incredible!

I am really enjoying newborn photography.
There is something so magical about capturing a lil babe before they are 10 days old that is just angelic!

I wanted to highlight some of the products that we offer that are NOT prints...

First off is my personal favorite...
The Storyboard.
I love putting these together for clients!
It's a fun lil collage of photos on a nice sturdy piece of double weight matboard.
Here is an example of 2 I got Josh for Father's Day!
Here are the digital files. They are each sized for a 10x20 print.

The possibilities are endless with these... Basically any size you want... I have templates for all kinds of collage combos... Such a FABULOUS piece of wall art!
This is another example of a storyboard sized as an 11x14 print that I put together to showcase the Engagement Session of Justin & Allison


The second product that we love is
The Storybook.
This is one we did for a client back in February
.
There are tons of different leather cover options. This is a 5x5.
They are available in four square sizes (5x5, 8x8, 10x10, and 12x12) and five rectangle sizes (4x5, 4x6, 6x9, 8x10, and 8x12.
For weddings, we do a 12x12! Such a great coffee table piece!
These are so great instead of just ordering a bunch of smaller desk prints...
Get a book of your session!
No more finger prints on your photos... the photos are printed directly on a heavy hinge paper and the book is layflat in style.

The next product we offer is small in size... but such a great thing to have on hand!
The Accordion Wallet Books
We put these together for our parents for Father's/Mother's Day of photos of Josephine for them to have to show off like the proud Grandparents that they are!
They come in 2 size options: 3x3" square and 2.5x3.5" wallet.
They come in sets of 3.
They are leather and have 6 photos of front and 6 photos on the back.
Lots of different color options as well




Don't get me wrong, I love when a client orders prints...
but it's so fun to work with a client to build some
CUSTOM works of ART for their home/office!
